I really like Dr Chatterjee. He's great in Doctor in the House, on bbc i-player, where he spends time with families plagued by chronic diseases. He improves or even reverses their situations within weeks and months after they've been suffering for years and decades.

The first series saw a man hooked on painkillers which no longer worked after 20 years only for him to feel improvements immediately after undertaking work to realign his posture. The most recent series has seen a man suffering, for an equal amount of time, from chronic fatigue, get better within one week!? Dr Chatterjee, himself, was blown away by the results (I'm terrible for spoilers and trying hard not to here!)

So here he is, on TedTalks, talking about making chronic diseases disappear. He covers insulin resistance, depression and dementia. He goes on to talk about the simple, yet effective, benefits of tackling diet, stress, physical activity, sleep quality, gut flora, adequate sunlight, reducing toxicity and infection. All of which can help these diseases and more.

He reminds me so much of my CPH tutor - Ellen Kramer - talking about depletion, aetiologies, suppression and maintaining causes...so while this may be new to conventional medicine, as he says here, it's not necessarily new. I'm just really glad to hear the same language being used by a mainstream medical practitioner as there are still those who discredit the worth of nutrition, vitamins and minerals when it was a depletion of them which nearly killed his son and led him to re-evaluate his approach to health treatment.

Check out 'Drugmuggers' in the recommended books section of this website and listen to Ellen on the same page. You can find ways to help your gut flora on the products page: kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut...

Best wishes,

Debbie
